Platelet Rich Plasma
What is the Platelet Rich Plasma method?
The PRP method has been studied and used for years in medicine for the healing of burns, wounds, and post-surgical wound healing. In addition to plastic surgery, the method is also used as a restorative and healing treatment in orthopedics, with injections into the joints for degenerative or traumatic arthritis and as a healing solution for atonic diabetic foot ulcers. The PRP method is also successfully used for hair loss treatment in androgenetic alopecia.
In recent years, however, impressive results have been observed in the reduction of wrinkles, scars, acne, and sagging, as well as in skin regeneration and tightening, offering the skin a special glow and youthfulness. The PRP method is painless, easy, and absolutely safe, as the body uses its own healing mechanisms to repair damage. The results are immediate, long-lasting, and very impressive.
Who is PRP aimed at?
The PRP method has excellent results in facial rejuvenation, neck tightening, as well as in the rejuvenation of hands and décolletage. Impressive results are also observed in the restoration of acne and trauma scars.
The PRP method also improves skin stretch marks, and it can completely eliminate red stretch marks, which are the most recent ones, especially when combined with laser treatments.
It also provides significant benefits for skin sagging under the eyes, which is difficult to treat with conventional rejuvenating injections and laser treatments. Overall, with the application of the PRP method, the results are visible immediately after the treatment, as the face looks much younger and more radiant.
How does PRP work?
The PRP method for skin regeneration uses the platelets from the blood. Platelets play a key role in stopping bleeding in the body, as well as in repairing damaged blood vessels and body cells. Platelets contain ready-made reservoirs of growth factors.
These growth factors induce the production of collagen and the creation of new capillaries, which supply cells with all the necessary nutrients. Consequently, when the treatment is applied to the skin, it activates cell growth and collagen production, ultimately improving the skin’s elasticity and increasing its ability to retain moisture.
For the PRP method, 15 to 25 ml of blood needs to be drawn from the patient, which is a small amount. Then, using a special protocol, a first centrifugation is performed in a specialized device to separate the white and red blood cells from the plasma, which is the yellow liquid containing the platelets. Afterward, using a special centrifugation technique, the plasma can be further separated into PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and PPP (Platelet Poor Plasma). Once the PRP is obtained, a special activator made of nucleotides and calcium ions is added, which helps release the growth factors, now ready for immediate action. The PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is applied to the epidermis, either with injectable mesotherapy or without injections using a special roller.
The growth factors activate the skin’s stem cells and fibroblasts, resulting in the production of new collagen and elastin by the skin’s cells.
